🌸Autumn Garlic / Autumnal Allium -Shum Stav'i 🌸

This wild Allium is from the same family as garlic & onions. It typically blooms in autumn and can be found across all parts of Israel.
Its delicate flower clusters are a sign of the changing seasons, often appearing just as the heat & humidity of summer fades & cooler weather begins.

Garlic & other Alliums are mentioned in the Bible itself. When the Israelites wandered in the desert, they longed for the flavours of Egypt, saying:

"We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost - also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions & garlic." (Numbers 11:5)

Even this tiny autumn flower reminds us of that history - a symbol of the deep connection between the people, the land & its natural gifts.
