Meet the stunning Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria)
The Purple Loosestrife (Lythrum salicaria)
This is one of Israel’s wetland treasures. throughout late spring & summer
You can see them around Hula Lake, Alexander Stream & other nature reserves, where they attract bees, butterflies & other pollinators.
In Israel this plant is part of the natural landscape, but in other parts of the world it’s considered invasive, spreading rapidly in wetlands. Here, though, it plays an important role in supporting biodiversity & adding bursts of colour to our wild spaces.
