Welcome to a virtual tour of northern Israel, where unforgettable experiences await!
My day began in Tel Aviv, where I had the pleasure of picking up two adventurous couples from the USA and Canada, ready to explore together.
Hungry for more, we ventured to Alto Dairy, a charming goat farm nestled in the Western Galilee, near Akko. There, we indulged in a mouthwatering kosher lunch, savoring delectable dishes crafted with passion and farm-fresh ingredients.
Energized and excited, we continued our journey to the enchanting village of Peki'in. With its winding cobbled lanes perched atop a hill, it felt like stepping into a fairytale. The village embraced us with its diverse population of Druze, Christians, Muslims, and a resilient single member remaining of the once vibrant Jewish community.
We had the privilege of visiting Margalit, the sole returning member of a Jewish family, whose house has been transformed into a captivating visitor centre. Her storytelling painted vivid pictures of the past, immersing us in the rich tapestry of the village's heritage. We explored the village centre, strolling past the local spring and standing in awe before a magnificent statue honouring a renowned Druze warrior and his horse.
To add a touch of aromatic delight, we couldn't resist a visit to 'Grandma Jamilla's' soap factory. This is one of my personal favourites stops; the factory creates natural soaps and lotions using olive oil, coconut oil, and medicinal herbs, following ancient recipes.
Our adventure continued as we ventured to the sacred cave where Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai sought refuge from the Romans and penned the profound Zohar.
Standing in that historic space, we felt a connection to the past, embracing the wisdom and inspiration that resonated within those ancient walls.
With our hearts filled with reverence and gratitude, we journeyed further north to Mount Adir, standing proudly on the Lebanese border. Here stands a poignant memorial, paying tribute to the brave soldiers and civilians who lost their lives during the Second Lebanese War in 2006. We absorbed the stories, gazed across the border into Southern Lebanon, and honored the fallen by reading their names — a moment of reflection and remembrance.
Our final destination for the day was Tzfat, a city renowned for its spiritual ambiance and artistic charm. As the day drew to a close, we settled into our cozy hotel, ready to rest and reflect on the remarkable experiences we had shared.
Stay tuned for more exciting chapters of my #israeltours as I continue to explore the wonders of Israel with explorers from near and far.
